Unlock the colorful world of ceramics in this hands-on class focused on using Mason stains to enhance your pottery. Whether you're a beginner or looking to expand your skills, this class will guide you through the three most popular techniques for incorporating Mason stains: tinting slip, creating custom underglazes, and dyeing clay bodies.

Students will learn:

• How to mix Mason stains into slip for detailed surface decoration and textural effects.

• How to make and apply custom underglazes to add vibrant, painterly color to greenware or bisqueware.

• How to dye clay bodies to create colored porcelain or stoneware for use in marbling, inlay, and sculptural work.

Through demonstrations and guided practice, participants will explore the artistic possibilities with each technique and create sample tiles, test pieces, and a better understanding of how Mason stains react in the kiln. All materials provided. Participants will receive a text once the test pieces are fired.
